OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR
Per Institute policy, BFA and MFA students may request to enroll part-time at three-quarter, half, or quarter time. Part-time enrollment is not available to DMA or MA students.
Part-time enrollment has a direct impact on your anticipated graduation date, unless the student has exceptional circumstances. Half-time attendance, for example, will postpone your graduation date by ½ semester toward the eight full-time semester/120 minimum unit undergraduate program or the four or six semester graduate program.
If you choose to enroll part-time, your tuition will be reduced accordingly, by three-quarter, half, or quarter. Contact the Accounting Office to determine how enrolling part-time will affect your tuition (accounting@calarts.edu).
You should also contact the Financial Office to determine how part-time enrollment will affect your institutional and/or federal aid (finaid@calarts.edu).
If you are an International Student, you must contact International Students & Programs at intlprograms@calarts.edu prior to submitting the form to discuss if this option is available to you.
A Part-Time Registration Request Form must be submitted and approved by your School. If approved you will receive a notification from the Office of the Registrar. Note, this form must be completed for each semester a student wishes to enroll part-time.
This section is for planning purposes and mentoring. Please list the course number and/or course subject areas you plan to take in the upcoming semester(example: FAIC-400 - Film Today, Film Workshop, and Critical Studies Elective). The courses/subjects you list can change, and you are not required to take the exact classes - as we know what you plan to take is subject to availability.
Listing course/subject information allows your School to get a picture of what your plan is for the upcoming semester, it does not guarantee enrollment in the class.
Please note, however, the number of units you enroll in must remain within the noted thresholds below.
